Our commitment to sustainability and the environment is something we have been working on for a long time and continue to do constantly. In recent years, we have implemented aerothermal energy and solar panels, but other aspects, such as organic farming, have been part of our lives for a long time.
We understand tourism as a form of economic revitalization for people, but we also know that it has to be responsible and environmentally friendly tourism. That is why we try to set an example and contribute our grain of sand, to ensure that our activity has a positive impact on our environment and to be able to continue offering you the best of a charming rural hotel in Asturias located in an idyllic natural environment.

COMMITTED TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH SEVEN CONCRETE ACTIONS
HOT WATER THROUGH AEROTHERMAL
We have an aerothermal device in each of the two hotel buildings for hot water.
This produces 900 liters of hot water at a constant temperature in a sustainable way and with little impact on the environment, as it is considered a renewable energy that uses outside air to produce energy.
USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY WITH SOLAR PANELS
As aerothermal energy requires a small amount of electricity, we have 17 solar panels with a performance of 8 KW/h, which serve as support for aerothermal energy and also for the common areas of the hotel, reaching 0kw consumption on sunny days for many times. hours of the day.
In the hotel dining room, we have accumulators, which are charged during the day with solar panels and at night they gradually release the heat, creating a very pleasant temperature.
FIREPLACE AND PELLET STOVE
In the main living room we have a wood-burning fireplace to heat, in which we use the remains of the pruning of the two ecological apple tree plantations.
And, in the other room, we have a pellet stove, a way of heating with renewable energy that uses pressed wood for combustion.
BEEEKULTURE
We have beehives to facilitate the pollination of organic apple plantations and the obtaining of Km.0 and organic honey for our breakfasts.
We also have a “bee hotel”, whose function is to provide accommodation for bees that are tired or distracted, so that they can return to their location or continue with their work.
ORGANIC GARDEN
Our seasonal garden, in which we plant lettuce, tomatoes and other vegetables, is used for our dishes, both for dinner and breakfast.
For the garden we use compos, which is a natural fertile soil obtained from our compost bin (organic remains that are transformed into soil, such as grass, vegetable remains, fruits…). We also have our own planting plants, obtained from tomato, lettuce or zucchini seeds from other years.
We also usually have strawberries during the season, which we use mainly for desserts. And also organic beans that we sell through our online store.
PROXIMITY PRODUCTS AND KM 0
Our purpose is that all our products are local and from local producers. We bought organic Asturian beef, called Bioastur. We use fresh milk, artisan yogurt, fresh cheese from a nearby dairy and our cheeses are from the oldest cheese factory in Llanes: “Collera”.
We also buy local organic fruit, such as blueberries, for fresh consumption and making jam.
ORGANIC CIDER AND VINEGAR
Our cider production is completely organic. You can see the whole story about our conversion to organic farming in 2010 in “Our Story”. We have all the COPAE certificates that label us as Asturian organic cider, thanks to our two apple farms, in which we comply with all the processes to obtain a natural cider without the use of fertilizers or chemicals.
Apart from cider, we also produce organic apple cider vinegar.

RECYCLING BINS MADE WITH THE WOOD OF OUR APPLE TREES
At Valleoscuru we take recycling seriously and recycling in towns is not always easy. For this reason, we have prepared some original recycling bins inside the hotel with wood from our apple trees and integrated into the landscape.
Thus, when you are at our hotel, you can use them to recycle glass, paper or plastic, and then we will take care of taking it to the corresponding container.
